Good morning. It is National Margarita Day according to whomever it is decides such things and if I don’t really cotton to that sort of marketing I do love the margaritas (above) that Josie Davidson taught me to make in her spacious kitchen in San Antonio, Texas, a few years ago. (Here are six more recipes for margaritas, if you want to spread your wings a little.)

So that drink’s on the docket for this evening, in advance of a simple dinner of middle-school tacos and vigorous reflection on the week that has just passed. Questions to start off dinner: What was the single worst thing that happened to you in the past five days? And the best? Related: What did you think of the premiere of “Desus & Mero” on Showtime last night?

To the weekend! Working from end to beginning, Sunday is the Academy Awards, and you might three-screen the festivities from bed with the children, pets or loved ones: the broadcast on ABC for the live feed; the dashboard at The Times for instant analysis; social media for jokes. We have some Oscars recipes prepared for your dining pleasure, and you can start off and finish with a huge spread of these cayenne-and-Cheddar coins that Gabrielle Hamilton wrote about for her “Eat” column this week.

Saturday night is filled with possibility. You might like to run down Gabrielle’s recipe for quiche Lorraine, in part so there are leftovers for Sunday breakfast — and in part so you can watch this live 1990 performance of “Quiche Lorraine” while you cook. But you could make the Zuni Café roast chicken instead because it’s so delicious, and follow it with a lemon sheet cake with buttercream frosting, because that would be a nice night.

On the other hand, you may be looking for vegetarian comfort food on a chilly Saturday night in February, or a recipe for saucy shrimp and white beans with fennel and pancetta. You may desire velvety Chinese-style fish with mushrooms and perchance some cubes of tofu. Or, heading in another direction entirely, you might prefer this luscious rigatoni with white Bolognese.

Sunday lunch? How about the egg-salad sandwich from Konbi, brought to us by Tejal Rao? Or Gabrielle’s recipe for celery toasts? A bacon-egg-and-cheese casserole from Alison Roman could be better than fine. Or you could make as I did the other day and swap out the currants for frozen raspberries in Julia Moskin’s recipe for orange-currant scones. Drizzled with maple syrup those were an excellent weekend repast.

Many thousands more recipes to cook this weekend await you on NYT Cooking and are available to you just as soon as you take out a subscription to our site and apps. Please do if you haven’t already! You can find further inspiration on our Instagram, Facebook and Twitter feeds. And you can receive help for what ails you — at least if it’s technology or cooking — by writing our Care Team: cookingcare@nytimes.com. (If your issues are more philosophical in nature, it’s probably better to write to me directly: foodeditor@nytimes.com.)

Now, as a reminder that the cooking life isn’t just about toil in the kitchen, see what you think of this Washington Post report on the best-selling cookbook of 2018, Joanna Gaines’s “Magnolia Table.”

And while you’re at it, “At Home With Amy Sedaris” is back on TruTV.

Serendipity returned me to Jeffrey Steingarten’s “The Man Who Ate Everything” the other day. Alexander Chancellor reviewed the book for The Times back in 1997. It remains a delight.

Finally, and a long fly ball from pheasants and chokecherries, here’s Mikaela Shiffrin winning her fourth straight gold medal for slalom in the world championships the other day: 60 seconds of straight-out intensity. Watch that and realize: Of course you can make your own mayonnaise. I’ll see you on Sunday.
